Support the Campaign for the freedom to take Photos!

A couple of days ago I dusted down my Fuji s9600 and invested in a wide angle conversion lens. I don’t use the camera much but thought I must start using it more this year and over the last few days, with crisp winter sunshine, I have taken some nice photos. A few of the dog and a few of the lovely coastline where I live. Mustn’t just rely on the camera’s Auto setting and start tinkering with shutter speed and aperture. I just wish the dog would stay still!

Project Canvas: It’s TV Jim, but not as we know it!

Posted in BBC HD, Media, Technology on January 18th, 2010 by admin – 1 Comment

Welcome to the future of U.K. Television – available on a screen near you…soon?

I do like to have a moan on this blog, but am more than happy to ’sing the praises’ when it is due. And I think this should be greeted with a whole heap of positivity.

Project Canvas isn’t some dodgy dossier being scripted by Whitehall Mandarins in readiness for a bit more regime change. It is a proposed partnership between broadcasters and internet service providers with a view to establishing an internet-connected platform. Those signed up to the project are the BBC, ITV, C4, FIVE, BT and Talk Talk.

REPUBLISHED 17.01.10

UPDATE 17-01-10: With Tony Blair currently rehearsing his lines for his appearance at the Chilcot inquiry of the Iraq war, it looks like this subject is going to be hot news. Blair received intelligence 10 days before the war started that Iraq had dismantled any Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD’s). These are the same W.M.D’s that could be launched with 45 minutes, according to an Iraqi Taximan and which was included as ‘evidence’ with the dodgy dossier. Then of course, it turned to ‘regime change’, at the same time Gordon Brown was planning to do the same thing. So I am really looking forward to the next few weeks. This inquiry was delayed by Labour time and time again to avoid embarrassment but unfortunately couldn’t be put off any longer. It has started just before the next election. Timing is everything they say.

UPDATE 19-11-09: TONY BLAIR NOT TO BE E.U. PRESIDENT – There is a God!

Tony Blair for European President? Have our memories faded that quickly?

Iraq War: Tony Blair – War Criminal or just a liar?

Posted in Politics, War on January 17th, 2010 by admin – 3 Comments

YouGov poll confirms 23% think Blair should be tried for War Crimes!

A YouGov poll in today’s Sunday Times reveals that 52% feel that Tony Blair deliberately misled the country over the Iraqi war. That to me reads that over half think he lied about the reasons and justifications to go to war. And 23% feel that he should be tried for war crimes.

Blair will soon being ‘justifying’ the war soon when he gives his ‘evidence’  to the Iraqi War inquiry. As a comparison, I was thinking about how there has been uproar over the Tiger Woods affair, or should I say affairs. Ever since his wife tried to club him to death with a five iron that infamous night, the comments have been rife. The newspapers covering every angle, young blonde pole dancers coming out of the woodwork saying they were also involved – and that they will be releasing a book and film in the summer.

UK House Prices: Forecasts for 2010

Posted in Business/Economy, Property on January 14th, 2010 by admin – 1 Comment

Property asking prices have certainly ‘jumped’ in the last few months. The apparent demand or should I say the actual lack of supply has meant Vendors and Estate Agents seem to be upping the ante in terms of asking prices. But what for 2010? Personally, I still can not get my head around some of the ‘values’ being put on property. There seems to be a world of delusion out there.

The following ‘experts’ have given their predictions for 2010 to the FT.

Stuart Law, chief executive of Assetz: +5 per cent

Ray Boulger, senior technical manager, John Charcol: +4 per cent

David Bexon, managing director, SmartNewHomes.com: +2 to +3 per cent

Nigel Lewis, findaproperty.com: +1 per cent

Jonathan Haward, chairman of County Homesearch: +1 per cent
