BBC HD Campaign
Campaign for better picture quality from BBC HD following complaints.
I love a lot about the BBC and it’s HD channel was, for so long, a fine example of stunning imagery. However since August many viewers feel that the reduced bitrate and new encoders have resulted in picture quality that is now a shadow of it’s former glory. This has drawn many complaints from viewers. Many have expressed their opinions on blogs and forums a lot stronger than I. Some, like Paul Eaton, have taken up the issue directly with the BBC. So far I do not believe the BBC has answered the issues or have shown any desire to address the growing ground swell of dis-satifaction. So if you feel the BBC HD picture isn’t quite what is used to be make sure you have your say either at Digital Spy, AV Forums, Paul Eaton’s website or via the BBC HD Blog post about picture quality.
For whatever reason, financial, a technical experiment gone wrong, making space for future HD services on Freeview or for Freesat/Sky/Astra viewers…the picture quality is a long shot from what it used to be. This once standard bearer for television excellence should be reinstated to what it once was. If you want to complain direct to the BBC click here.
