Career advice for seven-year-olds: Another waste of time and money

What do you want to do when you grow up?

Policeman, Nurse, Fireman, Doctor.

These are the usual things children think of. Not, Call Centre Manager, Estate Agent or Consultant Paediatrician.

A trial is being launched in 38 primary schools to offer career guidance to seven year olds. Can we not allow our children to be just that, children. There will be plenty of time to think about careers.

Most Adults don’t know what career they really want to do. I never have and still don’t at age 40.

Would it not be better to invest the resources in helping the millions currently looking for work?

Sir! The Health & Safety Executive have arrived.

I was going to use the words..you won’t believe this..but then I thought, haven’t we heard such crap time and time again from wet, ‘ban the bomb’, politically correct beaureacratic namby pambys.

Apparently the school in question is Wood End School in Harpenden. The same school which, a few months ago, had banned football from the playground in fear that children might get hurt. It’s the Health and Saftey you see…you can’t be too careful.

Anyway, back to the cake fiasco. Apparently bringing cakes in on birthdays has being happening for years.
