UPDATE 17-01-10: With Tony Blair currently rehearsing his lines for his appearance at the Chilcot inquiry of the Iraq war, it looks like this subject is going to be hot news. Blair received intelligence 10 days before the war started that Iraq had dismantled any Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD’s). These are the same W.M.D’s that could be launched with 45 minutes, according to an Iraqi Taximan and which was included as ‘evidence’ with the dodgy dossier. Then of course, it turned to ‘regime change’, at the same time Gordon Brown was planning to do the same thing.So I am really looking forward to the next few weeks. This inquiry was delayed by Labour time and time again to avoid embarrassment but unfortunately couldn’t be put off any longer. It has started just before the next election. Timing is everything they say.

YouGov poll confirms 23% think Blair should be tried for War Crimes!

A YouGov poll in today’s Sunday Times reveals that 52% feel that Tony Blair deliberately misled the country over the Iraqi war. That to me reads that over half think he lied about the reasons and justifications to go to war. And 23% feel that he should be tried for war crimes.

Blair will soon being ‘justifying’ the war soon when he gives his ‘evidence’  to the Iraqi War inquiry. As a comparison, I was thinking about how there has been uproar over the Tiger Woods affair, or should I say affairs. Ever since his wife tried to club him to death with a five iron that infamous night, the comments have been rife. The newspapers covering every angle, young blonde pole dancers coming out of the woodwork saying they were also involved – and that they will be releasing a book and film in the summer.

Further to my recent post about the vile proposition of extremists marching through Wootton Bassett, over 738,000 people joined this campaign on Facebook. However, today it seems that Islam4uk has stated that the proposed march will not take place.

What the Facebook campaign demonstrated is how powerful social networks can be in bringing together like minded souls. Thousands were up in arms that our society and indeed, the town of Wootton Bassett could be hijacked by a small group of people with extremists views.

But what the group also revealed was that itself was hijacked by people who, themselves, have extreme and racist views. Of course this was not the intention of the group and such comments were not tolerated but they did occur. So it begs the question which is worse? In the same way that Islam has been hijacked by extremists, the same thing then happens to a genuine public demonstration.

Free speech..God, I love free speech!

Such a British thing. In fact I would go as far as to say that we invented it. So the Christmas tree is back in the garden. There is just a little turkey left along with a fridge full of sprouts. And, to be honest I am getting slightly bored of bubble and squeak. In all, another successful, restful Christmas.

But today reality strikes. This green and pleasant land harbours Muslim extremists who thought it would be a great, popular, idea to march through Wootton Bassett, oh, whilst carrying empty coffins.

Today’s Sun newspaper has continued putting the boot into Gordon Brown. It’s main story titled ‘Bloody Shameful’ refers to Brown failing to bow at the Cenotaph and secondly, getting the name wrong of a dead solider in a letter of condolence to the family.

Gordon Brown is no natural performer. He just doesn’t do what should be seen to be done. These gaffs do nothing to endear him to many people, certainly not me. But I think The Sun has gone to far here. Whether or not you bow you head to show respect is a personal thing. It doesn’t mean you are being disrespectful. Surely, what is more disrespectful is taking the political decisions to send troops into a futile war.
